One powerful feature of the Intel vPro® platform is Intel Active Management Technology (Intel AMT). Intel AMT is built into PCs to provide hardware-level remote-management capabilities, including out-of-band management features that work when the PC’s operating system is unavailable. Before you can use these out-of-band management features, Intel AMT must be configured on each PC you want to manage.
Intel Endpoint Management Assistant (Intel EMA) provides a mechanism to automatically set up (or provision) Intel AMT on your devices when you create an endpoint group. In order to use that autosetup feature, however, you must first create an Intel AMT Profile. This article explains how to create an Intel AMT profile in Intel EMA.
Create an Intel AMT Profile
To create an Intel AMT profile:
- Log in to Intel EMA as the tenant administrator.
- On the left panel, click Endpoint Groups, and then click Intel AMT Profiles at the top.
- Click New Intel AMT Profile.
- In the General section, it is important to specify the profile name, client initiated remote access (CIRA), and a nonresolvable domain name server (DNS) for the CIRA intranet domain suffix.
- After you complete the General section, go to the Management Interfaces section and select all the features. This is where you enable key features including keyboard, video, and mouse (KVM) redirection, web-based UI, and IDE/USB redirection for rebooting from an alternate drive.
- It’s important to complete the Wi-Fi section if you’ll be supporting employees working from home. In the Wi-Fi section, be sure the boxes for both Synchronize with the host platform WiFi profiles and Enable WiFi connection in all system power states (S1-S5) are selected, and then click Save.
