WDDM (Microsoft Windows Display Driver Model) is the graphic driver architecture for graphics drivers for Windows* (beginning with Windows Vista*.

To check your WDDM version, find your Intel Graphics Driver version and look at the first number.

What are the new features supported in WDDM 1.2 that are not supported in WDDM 1.1?

Intel Graphics Drivers, which support WDDM 1.2, support the following new Windows 8 operating system (OS) features:

  • Microsoft DirectX* 11.1 support
  • Stereoscopic 3D support
  • Improved graphics fault tolerance with GPU preemption (to improve desktop responsiveness) and timeout detection and recovery improvements (improved resiliency to GPU hangs)
  • DirectFlip to help reduce power consumption

These features are not supported with WDDM 1.1 and 1.0 drivers.

What are the new features supported in WDDM 1.3 that are not supported in WDDM 1.2?

Intel Graphics Drivers, which support WDDM 1.3, support the following new Windows 8.1 operating system (OS) features:

  • Miracast* support
  • Hybrid Graphics support

These features are not supported with WDDM 1.2, 1.1, or 1.0 drivers.

Windows AERO* doesn't work on Windows 8* and Windows 8.1*.

The AERO feature has been removed by Microsoft on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.
