Environment

D400 series camera is connected to USB 3 port.

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Summary

he RealSense Viewer or other tool is reporting that the D400 camera is connected to a USB 2.0

Description

The RealSense Viewer or other tool is reporting that the D400 camera is connected to a USB 2.0 port but the camera is actually connected to a USB 3.0. Video appears corrupted.

Resolution

Possible workarounds:

  1. Unplug the camera and plug it back in quickly.
  2. Connect the cable to the camera side first then to the host second.
  3. Reverse the orientation of the C-type connector to the camera.
  4. Plug in the camera to other PCs with USB 3 ports and plug it back into the original PC.
Additional information

There is a hardware issue with the type-C connector on the camera module that may be causing the problem. There is a controller on the board that switches a MUX to route the SS signals from the connector to the ASIC and it is slow to switch; the USB2 signals always connect first and if the ASIC doesn't see the USB3 signals soon enough, it starts in USB2 mode.

The RealSense D400 series cameras will function when recognized as USB 2 and also when connected to USB 2 ports. There is limited support for USB 2. See the RealSense D400 Spec Update for more details.
