The Traffic Generator May Fail When Multiple EMIF Interfaces Occupy the Same Column on an Arria 10 Device

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT

    Critical Issue

    Description

When multiple external memory interfaces are present in the same column of an Arria 10 device, calibration may pass for all interfaces, but a built-in self test (BIST) may indicate that at least one interface has failed to pass memory traffic to or from core logic and the memory interface correctly.

    Resolution

The workaround for this problem is to install version 15.0.2 and patch 2.08, or to upgrade to version 15.1. Alternatively, you may add an EMIF debug component and daisy-chain the interfaces to enforce stable retention of stored calibration data.

This problem is fixed in version 15.1.
