What does "starvation limit for each command" option mean in DDR2 SDRAM and DDR3 SDRAM UniPHY and Altmemphy based controller?

Environment

  • Quartus® II Subscription Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Description Starvation limit is a threshold count used by the DDR3 UniPHY controller version 11.0 to prevent starvation of DDR3 commands. A command is considered starved when the starvation limit count is reached. The starvation count value increases by 1 for a particular command when the controller serves another command. The controller will treat starved commands as high priority commands and stop serving other commands. Example: if user sets starvation limit to 10, a command is starved when 10 other commands were served before it.
