Why the Intel MAX 10 FPGA temperature sensing diode (TSD) reading exceeded the device datasheet specification?

Environment

  • Quartus® II Subscription Edition
  • Modular Dual ADC core Intel® FPGA IP
  • Modular ADC core Intel® FPGA IP
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

The temperature reading from the Inte® MAX® 10 FPGA analog-to-digital converter (ADC) temperature sensing diode (TSD) channel exceeded device datasheet specification of /- 5oC for Intel MAX 10 FPGA Dual Supply device and /-10oC for Intel MAX 10 FPGA  Single Supply device. The inaccurate TSD reading is due to an ADC intellectual property (IP) bug.

    Resolution

This problem will be fixed in a future release of the Intel® Quartus® Prime Software version.
