1.1.3. Shared Arithmetic Chain and Carry Chain Interconnects

There are two dedicated paths between ALMs—carry chain and shared arithmetic chain. Intel® Cyclone® 10 GX devices include an enhanced interconnect structure in LABs for routing shared arithmetic chains and carry chains for efficient arithmetic functions. These ALM-to-ALM connections bypass the local interconnect. The Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Compiler automatically takes advantage of these resources to improve utilization and performance.
